About the Math Department
The Math Department at UCCS is committed to providing students with a superior education in mathematics and related fields.
Our faculty are dedicated to advancing the field of mathematics and equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their future goals.
Math Course Placement
Students have several options for placing into their first math course at UCCS, including using standardized test scores (like the ACT or SAT), demonstrating a sufficient high school GPA and math achievement, or taking the Accuplacer placement test for free at UCCS. Academic Offerings
The UCCS Department of Mathematics offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Undergraduate
Undergraduate majors may choose one of the following specialized tracks:
- Pure Mathematics
- Applied Mathematics
- Statistics
- Secondary Teaching
- Flexible
The Accelerated Master's Program allows students to earn both Bachelor's and a Master's degree in five years.
The Department provides minors in mathematics and statistics and a MathOnline program, which allows high school and other students to earn credit for UCCS courses remotely.
Graduate
The Graduate program offers the following degree options:
- Master of Science (MS): focused on mathematics and applied mathematics
- Master of Sciences (MSc): a cross-disciplinary focus
- PhD of Applied Science in Mathematics (PhD): Doctoral students can specialize in any of the research areas represented in the Department.
